Hungarian Strudel Making Class: Stretch & Fill Two Ways & Wines
Overview
The Strudel is a typical Habsburg-Empire dessert, but it can be originated to the Turkish influence in Hungary. It is an essential part of the wedding dinner in the countryside.
I use my mother’s recipe who makes the stretched version. This Strudel pastry is elastic, very thin and it is stretched by the hand. We make sweet and salty Strudel as well. Where I grew up, there were some typical fillings: poppy-seed with pumpkin, salty cabbage and sweet cottage cheese cream.

What To Expect
Learn to make traditional Hungarian strudel with a professional local chef! Using my family recipe, make dough from scratch and stretch it by hand until paper-thin. This is a 100% hands-on experience, with no pre-made dough, where you prepare two different fillings and make strudel from beginning to end.
You’ll learn the secrets and techniques of traditional Hungarian strudel-making, get practical tips you can use at home, and discover the traditions and customs behind this beloved Hungarian pastry. During the class, enjoy a Hungarian Farmer’s Plate with local bites, taste local ingredients, and enjoy Hungarian wine.
At the end, enjoy the freshly baked strudels you’ve made.
