As one of the only surf school licensed to run group lessons in both Byron Bay and the Ballina–Lennox Head area, we can take you to the right beach for the conditions on the day. With over 30 years experience there is no one better to get you surfing!
Your half-day adventure includes transfers from our check-in centre, expert surf coaching and all the essentials to help you progress—from warm-up and paddling to catching waves and standing up.
More than just surfing, it’s a chance to explore hidden corners of the coast, learn about the local area and experience the laid-back surf culture that makes this part of Australia so special.

What To Expect
Awaken your inner surfer with a truly authentic surfing adventure, we have some of the best surfing locations at our finger tips, and our friendly team will help you get there. LGS is one of the only surf schools licensed to conduct group lessons in both Byron Bay and the neighboring beaches of Ballina-Lennox, where our half-day tours typically take place.
Covering all the basics from warm-up to paddling, catching waves and standing! The tour price includes transfers to and from our check-in centre right in town, alongside refining your technique, you'll also embark on a journey of learning, adventure, and cultural immersion as we explore diverse destinations together. If you have any doubts about becoming seasick on the water, we recommend taking a Dramamine® Motion Sickness Relief tablet the night before your trip. Some people recommend taking it the night before your cruise and then again that morning so you will not feel so drowsy.
Feb 2023- For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the tour start time.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the tour start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
- Any changes made less than 24 hours before the tour start time will not be accepted.
- Cut-off times are based on the tour local time (AEDT).
- This tour requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.
