Overview
We grew up on these waters, and we built this small-group cruise for travelers who want to feel the real Lan Ha Bay and Ha Long Bay—not a rushed, "conveyor-belt" tour.
Instead of following the crowds, we take you into the quietest corners of both bays, where often only 1 or 2 other boats are in sight. You’ll kayak through cave tunnels and calm lagoons that big boats cannot reach, and pass Cai Beo floating village—one of Vietnam’s oldest fishing communities—to see how our neighbors truly live on the water.
Spend an unhurried day swimming off wild beaches, watching black kites dive for fish, sharing a home-style lunch cooked fresh onboard, and exploring with a local guide who calls this island home.
Whether you start on Cat Ba, or join from Hanoi or Ha Long via our special route across the heart of Ha Long Bay connecting both heritage bays, you’ll see our home the way we love it most. Max 30 guests.

What To Expect
Spend an unhurried day cruising and kayaking through Lan Ha Bay and Southern Ha Long Bay (max 30 guests). [TIMING BY OPTION] From Hanoi: 07:15–19:30 (includes 2-way car & crossing through the heart of Ha Long Bay) | From Ha Long: 09:15–18:00 (crosses central Ha Long Bay into Lan Ha Bay) | From Cat Ba: 08:15–17:00 (starts later to skip rush hour). [MORNING 08:30–12:30] Cruise Lan Ha Bay past ancient Cai Beo Floating Village and unique karst towers (Chopstick & Seal islets), then kayak through hidden cave tunnels and calm lagoons at K.A Cave and Bat Cave. [MIDDAY 12:30–13:30] Anchor at quiet Ong Cam Islet for a freshly cooked Vietnamese lunch, with time to jump off the boat, swim, or relax on deck. [AFTERNOON 13:30–17:00] Sail into untouched Southern Ha Long Bay (Dau Be Island, Vung Vieng Village, Le Virgin & Kite arches)—where only 1–2 other boats are in sight. Kayak and swim at wild Ba Trai Dao & Temple beaches before cruising back at sunset.

The maximum weight capacity for kayaking is 340 lbs / 154 kg.
Nov 2021No experience is necessary! Beginners are welcome on all of our kayak tours. Most of our guests have never been in a sea kayak before. Anyone in average physical condition may join a kayak tour. If you can hike or bike, you can paddle our sea kayaks. You do not need any swimming skills either.
The only prerequisite is a healthy spirit of curiosity and adventure.
Regardless of age or skill level you will find that our expeditions offer enough flexibility to make your experience with us safe and rewarding. We will show you proper sea kayaking technique and water safety before leaving the beach. And your expert guides will be with you throughout the adventure to give you pointers and improve your skills.
Sep 2022Your safety is Cool Shore Excursions’s number one concern. In general, sea kayaking is safer than most other outdoor pursuits, even bicycling.
Jan 2023If you have any doubts about becoming seasick on the water, we recommend taking a Dramamine® Motion Sickness Relief tablet the night before your trip. Some people recommend taking it the night before your cruise and then again that morning so you will not feel so drowsy.
Feb 2023- For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the tour start time.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the tour start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
- Any changes made less than 24 hours before the tour start time will not be accepted.
