Your Open Water Diver certification includes a FREE Double Dive Trip to Cook Island Aquatic Reserve, one of the Gold Coast’s top marine sites. Swim alongside turtles, rays, and colorful reef fish during two guided ocean dives — all included at no extra cost. This isn’t just training — it’s your first real adventure as a diver!

What To Expect
Learn to dive on the beautiful Gold Coast with this internationally recognized SSI Open Water Diver Certification Course. Over three days, you'll gain the skills, confidence, and certification to explore the underwater world up to 18 metres deep.
Start with 5–6 hours of flexible online learning at home before arriving. On Day 1, meet your instructor for a classroom review, final exam, and your first hands-on skills session in the pool. Then, over two exciting days of ocean diving, you'll complete four open water dives at local dive sites—starting at 12 metres and progressing to 18 metres.
Your professional SSI instructor will guide you every step of the way as you learn how to use scuba gear, communicate underwater, manage buoyancy, and dive safely with a buddy. By the end, you’ll not only be certified but also ready for a lifetime of adventure beneath the surface.
Whether you’re starting your diving journey or planning future dive trips around the world, this course is your passport to the ocean!

Participants in the Gold Coast Learn to Dive – Open Water Certification Course cannot fly in an airplane within 24 hours of their dive.
The main concern with scuba diving and flying is decompression sickness (DCS). Your body needs adequate time during an ascent to off-gas excess nitrogen, or you can form bubbles in your bloodstream, possibly leading to DCS.
Jun 2024If you have any doubts about becoming seasick on the water, we recommend taking a Dramamine® Motion Sickness Relief tablet the night before your trip. Some people recommend taking it the night before your cruise and then again that morning so you will not feel so drowsy.
