Western Lofoten: Winter Hike / Snowshoe Hiking Adventure
Overview
Ryten is one of the top winter hiking and snowshoeing destinations in Lofoten. Located in Lofotodden National Park near Fredvang, it offers iconic views of Kvalvika Beach and the dramatic peaks of Moskenes and Flakstad.
The route we follow has some steep sections, but mostly gentle terrain and no avalanche risk, making it a safe and accessible winter adventure with the right gear and an experienced guide.
The hike climbs to 543 meters with over 500 meters of elevation gain. It’s a challenge, but the views from the summit are unforgettable and often the highlight of our guests’ trip to Lofoten.
No previous hiking or snowshoeing experience is needed, but you should be comfortable with physical effort and deep snow in some sections along the way.
What's Included
- Tea and coffee We bring hot beverages for everyone so we can stay warm both while hiking and during our group lunch in the mountains
- Lunch We make time for a lunch break with a hot meal in the mountains so you don´t need to bring your own lunch. We have vegetarian, vegan, lactose- & gluten-free options
- Backpacks, goggles, camping seat, gaiters, hats, gloves, socks, anything you might need, we got it
- Snowshoes + microspikes + hiking poles
- Only when you drive with us. If you arrive with your own car you may need to pay a 100 NOK parking fee
- We pick you up at your doorstep with a comfortable and warm minivan and drop you off there afterwards
- Local guide with deep knowledge of the mountain, and most importantly, a sense of humor!
