Ruines Romanes de Pollentia (pass by)

As we stand here, we are stepping back in time to the 1st century BC, when this site was the thriving Roman city of Pollentia. Founded after the Roman conquest of Mallorca, Pollentia was the most important city on the island for several centuries. Alcudia Old Town

As we approach these imposing stone walls, we're entering the heart of Alcudia's rich medieval past. Constructed in the 14th century under the orders of King James II of Mallorca, these walls were built to defend the town against pirate raids and other threats. Stretching nearly 1.5 kilometers, the walls once encircled the entire town, with 26 towers providing strategic viewpoints. Today, walking along these ancient fortifications, you can imagine the watchful guards of centuries past, protecting the town's inhabitants. The walls offer not only a glimpse into the defensive architecture of the time but also stunning views over the town and surrounding countryside.
