Overview
YOUR COOKING EXPERIENCE
Our day begins at a traditional local market, where we'll shop together for the freshest seasonal ingredients needed for your chosen menu. Along the way, you'll learn about local produce, herbs, spices, and the essential ingredients that define Oaxacan cooking.
From there, I'll take you to my home, where we'll prepare every dish completely from scratch. Throughout the class, I'll share family techniques, cooking secrets, and cultural traditions that have been preserved for generations.
Once everything is ready, we'll gather around the table to enjoy the delicious meal we've created together, accompanied by:
Traditional Oaxacan snacks
Fresh aguas frescas
Local beers
Artisanal mezcals
Mezcal cocktails and traditional curados
To finish the experience, I'll drive you back to downtown Oaxaca, and you'll receive all the recipes so you can recreate these special dishes for your family and friends back home.

What To Expect
Hello! I'm Betsaida, a proud Zapotec woman from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca.
I'd love to welcome you into my home and share one of the greatest treasures of my culture: our traditional cuisine. Together, we'll prepare authentic dishes from Oaxaca and my hometown of Tehuantepec using family recipes that have been lovingly passed down through generations.
Whether you're an experienced home cook or have never stepped into a kitchen, this class is designed for everyone. We'll cook, laugh, learn, and enjoy an unforgettable meal together while discovering the stories, traditions, and flavors that make Oaxacan cuisine one of the most celebrated in the world.
After booking, you'll receive our seasonal menu, where you'll be able to select:

One dessert
You can choose dishes according to the level of complexity you'd like to prepare—no previous cooking experience is required!

- Every participant in our experience is important and therefore we offer a few spaces in our experiences, so please make sure to read the Cancellation Policies; once you have paid you will be accepting them:
- * If any of the participants arrive drunk or with hangover symptoms at the meet up, we'll ask for to leave for everybody's comfort and for the person itself and the ticket payment won't be refunded.
- * It's super important and your responsibility that you take care of yourself from any type of illness, stomachaches or hangovers. There’s no refund from any of the previous topics.
- * If someone is detected with 37 ºC of fever or more, will be invited to rest in his/her hotel & the money will be refunded.
- * Tour bookings are fully refundable up to 72 hours before your tour date.
- * Cancellation won’t be refunded if it is made within 72 hours before the start date or on the meet up time day of the tour.
- * If guests cancel part of the experiences during the tour, there won’t be any refund.
- * A change of date is no problem, as long as there is availability with previous request of 1 month as minimum or even longer. We can also swap your tour into a different date if there’s availability by letting us to know with prior time .
- * Customers will also receive a full refund in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances like a strong protest, social riot or natural disaster; we can also swap you into a different tour if there’s availability, otherwise this will be refunded .
