Stand among the 12,000-year-old pillars of Göbeklitepe with your own licensed guide, then see the best of Şanlıurfa. Lunch, entrance fees and pickup from your hotel or Şanlıurfa Airport are included.

This full-day private tour is built around Göbeklitepe (Göbekli Tepe), the oldest known temple in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built thousands of years before Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids, and it changed what we know about the beginnings of civilisation. Your guide explains the carved pillars and the latest excavations, then takes you to the Şanlıurfa Archaeology Museum to see finds from the site itself.

In the afternoon you explore old Şanlıurfa. Visit the Haleplibahçe Mosaic Museum, the Roman rock tombs of Kızılkoyun, the sacred fish pool of Balıklıgöl and the Cave of Abraham, then walk through the covered bazaars to Gümrük Han. Lunch is at one of the city's best kebab restaurants.

If you are flying in, the tour can start at Şanlıurfa Airport.

Gobeklitepe

Göbeklitepe, which means "belly hill", is the oldest known temple in human history, and the first religious center on earth. Approximately 20 temples have been discovered in the region, and so far, six temples have been unearthed. The level of soil at the location of the building shows that the building was buried by human hands, not naturally. Göbeklitepe was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2018 and included in the World Heritage List. You can see at least 15 buildings and more than 200 obelisks, T-shaped columns, whose lengths between 3 and 6 meters, are thought to be stylized human figures. 3-dimensional lion relief. These figures strengthen the possibility that lions lived in Anatolia during the Neolithic period. The discovery of Göbeklitepe is an indication that settled life was passed through the temple, not agriculture. Before Göbeklitepe, all history books stated that the transition to settled life occurred with the emergence of farming and animal husbandry.
