It is believed that the Ananuri fortress was founded in the 16th century. In the first half of the 19th century, a Russian garrison was located here, which guarded the Georgian Military Highway. Mount Kazbek is the second highest mountain peak in Georgia, with a height of 5033 meters (there is also information that it is 5047 meters). But in 2019, the last height measurements were taken.
