Old Town

Old Town Alexandria offers a glimpse into the world George Washington knew well. Just a few miles from his Mount Vernon estate, Alexandria was his social, business and political hub. Washington dined at Gadsby's Tavern, worshipped at Christ Church, and conducted business along the bustling waterfront, which was one of the busiest ports in colonial America. Walking the cobblestone streets today, visitors can explore many of the same sites Washington frequented, making Old Town a living connection to his daily life.
