Via Triumphalis Necropolis

Discover a side of the Vatican that few visitors ever see with the Exclusive Vatican Underground — Via Triumphalis experience. This remarkable archaeological site beneath the Vatican Museums reveals a vast Roman necropolis, offering a rare look into everyday life in ancient Rome. Walk among remarkably preserved tombs and inscriptions belonging to members of the lower-middle class — freedmen, artisans, and small craftsmen — whose stories are often missing from history books. Accompanied by a specialized guide, you’ll explore hidden passageways and uncover artifacts that illuminate faith, tradition, and burial customs from centuries past. This unforgettable underground journey takes you beyond the grand basilicas to the authentic layers of Vatican history, making it a must-see for travelers who love archaeology, culture, and hidden treasures.
