Berlenga Grande is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and setting foot on it is the real challenge: landings are capped by the official ICNF island permit (the BerlengaPass), the boat is a separate ticket, and the Atlantic can close the crossing with little warning. On this private day trip we solve everything in one booking. Your driver-guide picks you up at your Lisbon hotel, cruise port or airport and drives you to Peniche. We secure your ICNF island permit and your crossing for the same date, watch the forecast, and rebook or refund cleanly if the sea closes the island.
On Berlenga you walk the trails to the 17th-century Forte de Sao Joao Baptista and the 1840 lighthouse, and swim in clear Atlantic coves like Carreiro do Mosteiro. Choose your boat pack: the island crossing, a glass-bottom tour of sea caves such as Furado Grande and the Gruta Azul, a guided island visit, or a snorkeling session in the reserve. If you have any doubts about becoming seasick on the water, we recommend taking a Dramamine® Motion Sickness Relief tablet the night before your trip. Some people recommend taking it the night before your cruise and then again that morning so you will not feel so drowsy.
